Vandalism of a transmission energy within the south-south area of Nigeria has been blamed as the reason for the latest nationwide blackout.

Isa Sanusi, media spokesperson of the ministry of energy in a press release launched on Saturday April 9, mentioned the latest grid collapse has been traced to Odukpani-Ikot Ekpene 330kV double circuit transmission line.

The assertion learn;

“Additional to our earlier press launch, we want to apprise most of the people that the fast explanation for nationwide blackout (system collapse) was an act of vandalism on a transmission tower on the Odukpani-Ikot Ekpene 330kV double circuit transmission line thus leading to a sudden lack of about 400 MW of era.

“This consequently led to a cascade of crops shutdown throughout the nation.

“We want to notify the general public that energy on the grid is being restored sequentially by the system lperator as different on-grid energy crops are being dispatched to cowl the misplaced era capability from the Calabar energy plant owned by the Niger Delta Energy Holding Firm Ltd.”
